Tuesday Quick Hits (Sick bed edition)
Today’s Tuesday link round up comes to you from a temporarily diseased JLo. Those of you who do not have kids (esp those 2 to 10) don’t have experience with this phenomenon: exposure to an onslaught of myriad germs, bacteria, and other microbes brought into your home from day care, school, etc. In process of this transfer, said germs mutate and strengthen so that by the time they reach the unsuspecting parent, a simple cold or stomach virus takes on Ebola-like qualities. Or maybe I’m just a big baby when it comes to being sick. Definitely one of the two. Anyway, onto the links:
Neko Case is auctioning off the car from the cover of her album, Middle Cyclone, to benefit 826 National, a family of nine nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping students, ages 6-18, with expository and creative writing. She’s beyond awesome and has my undying love.
Thanks to Carol for this one: The 100 Most Loathsome Americans of 2010. Funny stuff, but some of the language is NSFW, so be warned.
Watch The National’s appearance on Austin City Limits online.
TV has officially run out of ideas. Antoine Dodson is getting his own reality TV show. Excuse me while I go through up now.
A really interesting take on the year that Oasis and Radiohead intersected on the career path, one plummeting, the other on the ascendancy.
That’s the lot for today. I will now go furiously hit refresh on my site stats. Just kidding, I’m not that vain (as far as you know). On a related note, I will admit that getting the first subscription from a random person that I didn’t know was a surprising ego boost. Thanks to you, random subscriber. As for the rest of you, feel free to subscribe if the mood strikes. You don’t want to miss out on any of this, do you? (Do it for the 25% of me that’s overcome with self doubt. I could use the ego boost apparently)
